Church Camp 2011

Last week we had our annual church camp held at Mt. Gilead Bible Camp in Sebastopol, Ca. The theme this year was "The REST of your life". Chris once again led worship and I sang on the worship team. Camp is supposed to be "relaxing" but it never really feels like that for us! Being up at 6 am to be able to catch a shower in the women's bathroom before they fill up is not my idea of relaxing! I'm still recovering from that!

This year Cydney brought a friend with her to camp! Lexi is also almost 9 and goes to school with Cyd. This was also the first year that Cydney got to be in her OWN cabin with the other older girls. That meant mom had to "let go" a little bit, which took some getting used to! That being said Cydney was SO responsible and I was very proud of her and Lexi. They also made sure to include Lilly in their plans so she was not left out.

As always it was great to see our friends and have fellowship with everyone. I love feeling camp refreshed and renewed! I told Pastor Bob on Friday though, that I'm no longer sad when I leave camp every year because I get to go home with the people that I was always sad to leave now! Its great! There were 14 saved this year and 5 of them were from Cypress including Cydney's friend Lexi! Awesome blessing!

I didn't take that many pictures this year as I was quite busy but here are a few!

Support the Girls!!

Its that time of year again!! Church Camp!
I hope your summer is getting off to a great start! I wanted to let you all know that Cydney and Lilly are raising money to pay their way to Camp this August by selling "script" for our church's Phantom Fireworks stand! So what is script you ask? Its basically a donation in increments of $10 that in return you get a voucher to use for fireworks at our booth! I know that some of you aren't located in the Sacramento region and wouldn't be able to redeem them for Fireworks but keep in mind that this IS a donation and the proceeds will go towards getting the girls go to camp! If you ARE planning on buying fireworks this year, this is a great way to purchase them AND help out with a donation at the same time! Here is some info provided by Phantom about our fireworks this year:

We are super excited that once again Phantom Fireworks have the top rated fireworks in California! For the second year in a row the New York Harbor fountain took the top spot! If you get the chance we encourage you to print out the review or pick up a copy of the Sac Bee and post it on your booth for your customers. Here are the links for the article of how fireworks work as well as a link and attachment for the fireworks review.

Our booth is located at 8055 Elk Grove-Florin Rd, Sacramento and the Vouchers are only good at that location! Chris and I will both be working shifts at the booth as well to further off set the cost! So come by and say HI! Script must be purchased by 6/28 and the booth opens 6/29-7/4! Camp has truly been a blessing to me and my family and we are very excited for this upcoming year! Thank You for your support!

Here are some of our favorite pictures from Camp over the past 5 years!!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Just wanted to say Happy Halloween and wish everyone a safe fun time tonight! We HOPE to go trick or treating..... but it's been raining since yesterday afternoon so hopefully there will be a break long enough to! The girls were supposed to wear their costumes from their Dance recital in June... but miss Sweet Pea decided to go through a growth spurt and her's no longer fits... So we put together some last minute costumes! Sweet Pea is going to be "Elizabeth Swan" from Pirates of the Caribbean and Moo is going to be "Sharpay" from High School Musical. Now anyone that knows the girls, knows that these costume choices are totally them! lol Moo is always obsessed with the "Villains" in movies... I dont know what it is... Sharpay... Amber in Hairspray... Her Cruella De Ville doll... haha I don't get it but it's just her "thing" I guess. Hopefully I'll get some cute pictures to post of them tomorrow!

I noticed today that my ticker moved to my LAST baby today!! YAY YAY YAY!! I've already been back to the doctor this week for lovely pregnancy related "issues". I can def tell its near the end. She dropped earlier this week, Doctor confirmed yesterday that she's settled down into my pelvis region nicely. So that's a good thing.. but I'm definitely feeling the effects of that! My ultrasound is scheduled for Wed at 9am! I'm having some trouble getting things setup with the Cardiologist however. So pray for that to work out. Don't Forget!! I'm locking my Poll today!!

We had an awesome night at TNL last night. Hubby and the guys he played with for a while last year (Awaken) did a little "reunion" worship concert, and it was truly great! It was alot of fun but also an awesome time of worship. I heard many people make the comment that it felt like "church camp" and there was even a girl saved! God Is Awesome!

Church Camp

Well what can I say? I had a great week at Church Camp this week!

Our church goes with Faith MBC, Concord up to Mt. Gilead for a week every year. I've grown up going to this camp, My first year was in 1989 when I was 7. I've missed a few years along the way but for the most part I've been going for 19 years! Its a beautiful facility and so peaceful.
I have to admit I had somewhat of a negative/bad attitude going into the week. Stress that I was letting affect me. People and their actions. Getting ready is always stressful. I know that Satan tries to really throw a wrench into things and doesn't WANT us to have a good week. I tried to put all of that behind me as I got up there. In the past I've always been really annoyed that I don't have cell service and wouldn't be able to check my email while I was there. I usually would find some excuse to go into "town" so I could do all this, make some phone calls... check my myspace. haha. But this year was SO different, I didn't WANT to leave. I wanted to be there. Everything else could wait.

As I've shared before, last year at camp I was saved. I realized that I had made a false profession when I was 7 and I finally had the guts to talk to Hubby and my pastor about it after the last service at camp last year. I realized that all the doubt I had my entire life was real.. That I had never made a TRUE profession of faith. I had never truly asked Christ into my Heart. All I remembered from that experience when I was 7 was my mom praying for me at our kitchen table. So I prayed for myself, and asked Christ into my heart and I immediately felt 100 times better. Everyone was so supportive and so happy. It was just great!
So this year at camp was truly a new experience for me. As the past year has been as well! Our theme was "Choose to Lose" and our theme verse was Luke 9:24 "If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it."

Bro. Rodney Burdette, Missionary to Thailand was our speaker for the week. He truly has an amazing testimony and was an awesome speaker. Pastor Bob was my teacher for the week and we talked about worship, which also was an awesome topic. Hubby taught the High School class. And as much as I miss him being in the young adult class with me, I know he is being used where God wants him.

This was a BIG week for my Sweet Pea! Hubby and I had discussed earlier that we thought camp would be a good opportunity for her to practice some responsibility and learn to be a bit independent. Being such a small, controlled, safe environment we thought it was perfect for this. So during free time in the afternoons, she got to carry her own walkie talkie and pretty much do what she wanted. She spent the majority of the time hanging out w/ her crush, Adam (he's 8) and his brother Zac (10). She's been smitten by this boy since she was 2... we call him her church camp love. haha. (for those of you that have been to our house, he is the little boy in the charcoal drawing we have of her over our fireplace kissing her on the cheek) Her favorite thing to do this week was the Zip line and the Rock Wall! My big girl! She also enjoyed going into an older class this year for 6-8 year old girls. I just just can't believe how much she is growing up!

Moo had a good week as well. She has a little trouble sometimes that she is the "little sister" and doesn't get to do everything that Sweet Pea does. But she still had a good time! She also went on the Zip line!!! I was freaking out! She just seemed TOO little to be doing that! But she LOVED it and went on it twice! She wouldn't even let Chris walk up there with her!

Campfire is probably one of my favorite things about camp. We were split up into two teams this year, Green and Silver. They separated us by using a mixer game that grouped us by our birthdays. Then they split us down the middle. Moo ended up on the Green team, and the rest of us were on Silver. She loved that as well! The first night Hubby ended up being in a game that required him to shave a mohawk! It was the "oldest person on your team willing to get a mohawk"... He was older than the other guy willing so that was that! They were gracious enough to let me do it! I think he rocked it personally! ;) We had some great songs and games. It was just a blast as it usually is! Silver team ended up winning! Whoo hoo!

All in all it was a great experience. 9 people were saved and 4 of them came with us! . I have a renewed spirit. Those who went grew alot closer. I feel so blessed that God has placed us where we are. We had a great spirit of worship and I hope that our excitement spreads to our church and that our excitement continues!
